Shepherd mix – Wheaton & Black

Female

2 ¾ years

60 ½ pounds

Adoption Fee: $145

Bellwether was a stray before being caught and taken to a shelter in Riverside County in early July. She was transferred to Rancho Coastal Humane Society through the FOCAS (Friends of County Animal Shelters) program.

When she arrived, her fur was infested with hundreds of foxtails. The animal care attendants pulled out hundreds of them, then hundreds more.

She eventually underwent several surgeries to removes the foxtails that were embedded under her skin.

Now she’s happy and healthy and ready to begin her new life.

The $145 adoption fee for Bellwether includes medical exam, spay, up to date vaccinations, registered microchip, and a one-year license if her new home is in the jurisdiction of San Diego Humane Society’s Department of Animal Services. Everyone needs a plan for themself and their pets. Your Rancho Coastal Humane Society and FreeWill can help you create your own legal will. It’s 100% free and most people finish in 20 minutes or less. Many pet owners do not have pet guardianship plans for their animals, which means they have no assurance that their pets will be cared for. You can also use FreeWill to create a will that you then finalize with your own attorney. For more information log on to www.sdpets.org or call 760-753-6413.
