Before Randy Jones was a cancer-survivor himself, he started the Run/Walk for Independence 5K! In its 8th year, the event is set for Saturday, Feb 17th at Crown Point Park in Mission Bay Park and benefits Home Of Guiding Hands. HGH is one of San Diego county’s largest providers of support and services, touching the lives of more than 2,500 children, adolescents and adults with developmental disabilities each year.
The family event, which includes a scenic run/walk around Mission Bay Park, has become a must-attend staple on the San Diego event calendar for nearly a decade, and benefits Home of Guiding Hands, which has been committed to providing quality community support, critical housing, and life-skills training for children and adults with development disabilities for over 50 years.
Thanks to Jones and his leadership, HGH has raised well-over $200,000 since this family fun event began in 2011. Along with Padres Friar and promotion squad, Randy Jones will once again be at this year’s Run/Walk signing autographs and meeting fans. The event will also include face painting, a children’s play area, vendor fair and much more. Each participant will receive a participation medal, goody bag and t-shirt.
